Meet the Team
Jodi is a founding partner of eMergent Publishing, leaving magazine publishing in early 2008 to chase characters across the narrative landscape. Within a month she was prickling with a new project idea. That idea, once shared with Paul Anderson, became the basis of eMergent Publishing and saw the light of day as the Chinese Whisperings series of anthologies.
Passionate about short stories, pushing literary boundaries and creating publishing opportunities for emerging writers in the speculative and literary fiction genres, she is the Managing Editor of Chinese Whisperings and creator of Literary Mix Tapes.
In November 2010 she signed Emma Newman as the first of eMergent’s solo authors, along with her anthology From Dark Places and in January 2011 joined a group of 40 volunteer readers, writers and editors to produce 100 Stories for Queensland.
Others may dream of their perfect job, Jodi believes she lives it, even if the hours are sometime difficult when the sun never sets on your publishing house.
Director of Business Development
Paul is a founding partner of eMergent Publishing, acting as the managing editor of eMergent’s online magazine Write Anything and the legal and business director for the partnership. He appreciates the irony of leaving a career in law in order to become a writer, only to wind up in charge of the legal side of things.
As a writer Paul enjoys exploring the darker side of reality and unreality, plumbing the depths of his mind to uncover what lurks beneath. Despite his penchant for the sinister, he has somehow earned the reputation as the “nice” editor. This is until a writer mistakes an em dash for an en dash; then there’s hell to pay…
When not writing (increasingly often) Paul is working on expanding the scope of the Write Anything blog, from an online hang-out for writers, to an educational tool to enhance the skills of writers everywhere and to promote opportunities for them to be published.
